Jeffrey was born on October 14, 1987 in Dover NH. Shortly after that he and his family moved to Rochester where he grew up as a child. His racing career started in 1998 when his parents bought him a super mini cup car. He raced under the sanctioning body of MMRA, touring around New England. The first year Jeffrey ran about 48 races at 5 different race tracks. His first year lent him valuable experience, and he received rookie of the year for his efforts. He continued to race in the MMRA super mini cups for the next 3 years. He brought home 9 championships and over 50 wins, and was ready to take his racing career to the next level.
The race team; now known as J&K Motorsports purchased an older late model in 2003 to participate in the Nascar Dodge Weekly Series Late Model Division at Lee USA Speedway. At the age of 15, the first year was a real challenge for Jeffrey as he was racing in a division with higher competition than he had ever faced before. He went winless in the 2003 season and only scored a few top five finishes, he did round out the point’s battle in 10th place but once again experience in the form of seat time was very valuable to the young rookie.
During the off season the race team partnered up with some very good sponsors and was able to buy a brand new racecar from Helliwell Motorsports. The team worked very close with both Wayne Helliwell Sr. and Jr. to learn the ins and outs of the late model division. Jeffrey ran much more competitively in 2004 and came out with a 7th place finish in the point’s battle but still came up winless. During the off season the team worked with the Helliwells and they decided to cut off the front clip which had been damaged in a severe accident at the end of the season. As they already had the car cut apart they decided to convert the car to coil over for the 2005 season, this brought them up to the competitive level the team was looking for.
The next three seasons resulted in dozens of heat wins and 6 feature wins. They also moved up in points as follows: 5th in 2005, 3rd in 2006, and 2nd in 2007. Jeffrey is very excited for the 2008 season and believes that both his team and he are ready to make a championship run. Over the past 5 years he has gained a lot of experience and is very confident the he can combine both patience and aggression into a single ability to go out and win races.
Off the race track Jeffrey graduated high school in 2006 and has been working fulltime at the local Home Depot since. He is now saving as many funds as possible in preparation for his attendance to the University of North Carolina in the fall of 2008. Jeffrey has been accepted to the university and hopes to pursue his racing career as either a driver or car chief by honing his skills and knowledge of the racecar in the Motorsports Engineering program. |
