The Crew

My crew is a family; each and every one of them would do anything for one another. Every long night spent in the garage or at the race track is the most fun part of our lives. I have the best support a driver could ever have and my mind is at ease whenever I go out on that track, knowing that I am safe and my equipment is ready to go to the front. We have fun doing what we do, we laugh, we horse around, we get the job done, and I could never ask for anything more. This crew gives 110% in the garage and out of the trailer. They make me what I am out there.  - Jeffrey Labrecque Jr.-

Jeffrey Labrecque Sr.

Jeffrey’s father is the crew chief on the # 24 Late Model. He works very close with Jeffrey and in the end makes the final decision on what adjustments are to be made on the car. Jeff holds himself responsible for every race and the performance of the car in that race. If we aren’t on the outside going to the front he is not happy. He has an amazing drive to better the car and is proud to win races with a legal racecar. Jeff is responsible for assigning the crew tasks, mechanical work on the racecar, and most importantly spotting for Jeffrey on the racetrack. He is a great spotter; he puts the car into holes that close up within a second of hollering clear. This is a very important part of his job at the racetrack as Jeffrey runs without any mirrors in his racecar. Jeff has often spent long nights in the garage fixing the racecar for the next race and will do whatever it takes, including working day and night for a week straight to be ready.

Karen Labrecque

Jeffrey’s mom handles all of the paperwork. This includes making setup sheets, figuring out tire rotations, and handling all of the finances. She works very hard at the track to stay on top of schedules, lineups and any of the other matters that may concern the team throughout the night. Without her time and dedication the team would not run nearly as flawless as it does.

Scottie Maltese

Scottie is the “wrench “of the crew. When Jeff needs something changed on the car, he relies on Scottie to make the adjustment precisely. Being a heavy equipment mechanic by trade Scottie has all of the necessary background to understand the anatomy of the racecar. The team never has to second guess his work when assigned a task. Driver Jeffrey Jr. often has to remind Scottie that the racecar is not a D8 dozer, as he is used of tightening parts to the torque requirements of heavy equipment. Scottie is now a veteran tire changer and can rifle off a flat and get the car back on the track in a matter of seconds. Scottie always has a positive attitude and is excited to run for a championship in 2008.

Mark Kenny

Mark is the tire specialist of the crew. Mark has worked closely with both driver and crew chief over the past two years to dial in the tire procedure. After Jeffrey picks out the tires that match up the best, mark is immediately to work. He keeps track of both practice and race tires, this is literally a fulltime job for him. He is constantly watching pressures and sizes to see what he will have to do to keep the staggers where they belong. Mark usually chooses to stay at the trailer during practices to keep an eye on the tires as they change quickly from minute to minute. Mark has really figured out the good year tire and loves his position on the team.

Roland Labrecque

Jeffrey’s grandfather has been around racing for decades and keeps an eye on the team. He makes sure that everything runs smoothly, making sure that the young members of the crew don’t get bit by a stupid mistake. Rolly plays a large part in fabrication on the team, he does the tin work in the racecar helps design body braces, he also built the teams pitcart. He stays at the shop until every last detail is finished whenever working on the car. Rolly often talks with Jeffrey and helps him keep his head cool. He has taught him from the beginning that in order to finish first you must first finish. He is valued very much by the rest of the team both in wisdom and heart.

Ben Barker

… aka “Barker” is going into his third season on the race team. Ben is a large asset to the team. Being the driver’s best friend he talks with him throughout the week about various aspects of each race, this really helps with the mental preparation of the driver. Ben also works very closely with both driver and the crew chief, Ben listens very well and hustles every second he’s working at the track. Ben performs mostly basic maintenance that consists of cleaning the chassis, windows and hauler. He also is a tire carrier, thus he is in charge of changing tires and torques the lug nuts. Ben also helps the driver pick out tires and move them from the trailer to the hauler at the beginning and end of each race day.

DJ Maltese

DJ is the newest member of the crew, last season was his first season on the team and he is learning very quickly. Dj does just about anything that is asked, he helps with maintenance on the car, including cleaning, greasing, and other tasks. Dj often helps Ben with changing tires and fueling the racecar. Going into his second season Dj can finally breathe a deep breath of relief as he is no longer the rookie of the team, which may result in a lot less harassment. He is a great kid and knows it is all in fun and games. He like his father is valued for his dedication.
